About the Festival

Tarang is an arts and culture festival celebrating the richness of South Asian heritage and creativity. Scheduled for November 2026, during Diwali, it will take place at Toronto’s Riverdale Hub, located in the historic Gerrard India Bazaar—a long-standing home for many in the South Asian community.

Celebrating the Diversity & Cultures of South Asia

We recognize that “South Asia” contains immense diversity: hundreds of languages, eight countries, vast diasporas, mixed-race communities, and many intersecting identities. We also acknowledge that South Asian spaces have at times excluded Black South Asians, Dalit and Adivasi, queer and trans communities, and others. While no single event can represent South Asia in its entirety, Tarang seeks to create an open, inclusive space for learning, dialogue, and celebration across differences.

Building on the legacy of the festivals such as Desh Pardesh, Masala! Mehndi! Masti! and Gerrard Street’s Festival of South Asia, Tarang will showcase a wide range of artists through performances, workshops, exhibitions, and a local artisan bazaar. Our goal is to foster community connection, encourage cultural exchange, and offer a meaningful platform for South Asian creatives to thrive.
