Katie Butler

Katie Butler is an emerging artist from Windsor, Ontario. Katie creates paintings, often including mixed media elements, that are figurative and narrative, playing with moody lighting and flirtatious details. Katie comes from a maternal lineage of visual artists and storytellers, who inspired her creative exploration from a young age. After completing her degree in 2021, she shifted her work away from classical, poised portraiture to expressive, personal scenes. She now uses her artwork as a tool to connect with her emotions and invites audiences to do the same. Her work has been featured in various Toronto venues, including the Toronto Artist Project, Abozzo Gallery, Cry Baby Gallery, and Propellor Gallery. Her participation has been made possible with the support of the Tacit Collective, the OAC, the CCA, and the Pouch Cove Foundation–the sponsor of her artist residency in Newfoundland.
