ARTIST BIO
Justin Blayney: Contemporary Canadian Artist
Justin Blayney is a Toronto-based artist and graphic designer. He uses geometric shapes and pixelated patterns to create optical illusions in his figurative and abstract acrylic paintings and screen prints. Justin studied Fine Art at the Dundas Valley School of Art, and he has exhibited widely across Ontario.
Justin’s unique Op Art style is influenced by artists Pierre Auguste Renoir, Victor Vasarely and Chuck Close. His pixel pop-art method was first inspired by a photoshop collage portrait that he glimpsed on a bus shelter poster. He further refined his technique several years later through the study of graphic design and pixelation.
