About the Artist
Born in Ajax, Ontario Nancy grew up in a household where art and creativity were always encouraged. She credits her late father, Wayne Moore, an artist who loved nature, with giving her a solid foundation on which to build. Nancy writes: “Truth be told, both of my parents were quite creative and always encouraged being artistic; lucky for me.”
Nancy graduated from George Brown (Toronto) Graphic Design Program and has for over two decades, been the co-owner of Seastar Images Inc. a graphics/signage company that services the GTA and surrounding area. Although she continues to be involved in the graphics industry, Nancy’s real passion has, and always will be, fine art.
Nancy furthered her artistic development by attending a variety of workshops and classes. She feels one never knows what path one’s artistic future might take, so it’s important to learn new skills.
As an artist, she feels incredibly fortunate to be able to paint and draw without boundaries. While Nancy enjoys experimenting with different mediums, she has been drawn to working in acrylics lately. Her style is largely experimental, with an emphasis on abstracting nature and landscapes. She never sets out to replicate an image, but instead, strives to convey a mood or evoke an emotion using loose lines, rich textures and bold colours.
Nancy feels it’s important to contribute to the artistic community. For the past six years, she has donated paintings for the annual Drawing for Art Fundraiser, at the Station Gallery in Whtby. She has donated artwork to the Art of Giving charity auction organized by United Way and York Region to benefit those in need. Nancy was also invited to be the guest feature artist and donated artwork for the 32nd Annual Sportsman Night run by the Cobourg Rotary Club.
Nancy enjoys showing across southern Ontario including galleries in Cobourg, Port Perry, Ajax, Whitby, Oshawa, Collingwood, London and, of course, Toronto.
