About the Artist

Cheryl HJ Lee, a Korean-born Canadian artist, shifted her creative journey from Vancouver to Toronto after moving to Canada at 16. Graduating with a Visual Arts major from Emily Carr University in 2017, Cheryl’s diverse artistic repertoire includes acrylic, oil painting, self-taught textile art and innovative VR painting.

Cheryl creates unique landscape paintings using acrylic and oil paints to explore the interplay between light and dark, reality and imagination. By focusing on light sources such as windows, traffic lights and reflections on a textured, dark background, she invites viewers to interpret each painting in their own imaginative way.

Since embarking on her artistic path in 2023, Cheryl has made a significant impact, participating in four group exhibitions, including the esteemed 71st Open Juried Exhibition by CFS, and engaging in 7 art fairs, such as Toronto Outdoor Art Fair (TOAF), Artist Project 2024, Cabbage Town Art & Craft Show (upcoming) and Artist Project (2025).
