Housed in the Riverdale Hub, Global Pantry is a Community Economic Development (CED) initiative that supports economic empowerment of vulnerable women through hands-on placement training and skill building in our Social Catering Enterprise. Social Enterprise is a revenue-generating business with a social purpose. Operated by a non-profit organization, a social enterprise has two goals:
-to achieve social, cultural, community, economic, environmental outcomes
-to become profitable.
The Global Pantry was initiated to help marginalised women to apply their skills in food preparation, budgeting, and marketing under the guidance of a trained catering professional. Placement in the Global Pantry provides them with an opportunity to further develop their skills, gain practical work experience and to translate their existing skills into marketable assets in the labour market.
Global Pantry offers a range of delicious, healthy and affordable multi-ethnic food. Consciously organic, we use locally grown natural produce, fair-trade ingredients, heart healthy oils and whole grains in our menu.
